The Wistar Institute, Philadelphia, PA

Located on Spruce Street and surrounded by the University of Pennsylvania campus, The Wistar Institute is an independent science and medical research facility founded in 1892. The majority of its complex was built in 1975 by Mansell Lewis and Fugate, a Pennsylvania based firm that also designed several religious buildings in the Philadelphia area. The complex is currently being expanded for the first time since 1975 and approximately 1/3 of the current structure will be demolished and replaced with a larger addition.
