Public School 49, also known as the Willis Avenue School, was built in 1965. It is located on Willis Avenue between 139th and 140th Streets and has the typical detailing of many mid-century New York City schools including colored enamel paneling above and below the bands of windows and prominent color variations (in this case between the vivid teal at the entrance and the darker blue on the window detailing).
