225 East 43rd Street, Midtown, NYC

This office building and garage was designed by Oscar I. Silverstone, a Brooklyn architect in 1949. It was possibly originally used by the Postal Service as a garage. Silverstone built apartment buildings, single family homes and other buildings like this one across the five boroughs from the late 1930s until at least 1970. It is unclear if the marble facade panels are original, but the horizontal, International-style windows with extended surrounds give a strong mid-century flavor.
