Global Mundane: Holborn Library, London, England

The Holborn borough branch Library on Theobalds Road is a significant early mid-century branch library. It was completed in 1960 and designed by the Holborn Borough Council’s architectural team. The C20 Society, which has unsuccessfully applied for listing of the building twice, has an extensive architectural history on its website and featured the library as its July 2013 building of the month, which was unbeknownst to me when I photographed the building. I was intrigued by the swooping entrance canopy and patterning on the facade under the first floor windows.
