Dillon Child Study Center, St. Joseph’s College, Clinton Hill, NYC

Planned in 1966 and opened in 1970, the Dillon Child Study Center is on St. Joseph’s College campus in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. The building is set back from Clinton Avenue behind a high, wrought-iron fence and facing a green open space. The architects were Clark & Warren, architects of several Catholic facilities in the region, with assistance from architects and contractors Schumacher & Forelle, who were also responsible for general contracting on the neighboring St. Joseph’s Library. The front of the building facing Vanderbilt Avenue (seen at bottom) is even more restrained with an entrance tucked away into the side of one of the brick stair towers.
