The Woman’s National Democratic Club sits prominently at the intersection of New Hampshire Avenue and Q Streets NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. The building, seen at bottom is a restrained Victorian-era mansion designed by Harvey L. Page, an architect known in DC and Texas.
However, here we are focused on the small Brutalist addition at the rear of the original building along Q Street. The wing, used for special events and other functions, was designed by Nicholas Satterlee, who was featured on this website in his collaboration with Chloethiel Woodard Smith, among many modernist architects he worked with. It was constructed in 1967.
