Congregation Beth Torah, Midwood, NYC

Located at 1061 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn is this 1969 synagogue (right side only with more recent addition at left). It was designed by Richard Foster, former partner of Philip Johnson, who also worked on Lincoln Center, the 1965 New York World’s Fair and New York University. The building envelope is a simple brick box with rounded edges and a narrow row of windows. It is unclear what remains on the interior, but a black and white picture of the original sanctuary is available in Robert A. M. Stern’s New York 1960 book.
