McCormack Hall, Our Lady of Guadalupe School, Dyker Heights, NYC

This standard mid-century auxiliary school building, formally known as Msgr. Joseph A. McCormack Hall, stands behind Our Lady of Guadalupe R.C. Church on 72nd Street in Dyker Heights. The original main school building is on 73rd Street so this was built later, 1962-1965 to be exact, for expansion or to serve another purpose for the church. South Brooklyn is fairly littered with religious school properties built in the 1950s or 60s. The variety of yellow, orange and beige bricks is fairly standard and the height and long lines fit within this low-rise neighborhood. This building also has the added visual stimulation of a metal and plastic arched arcade at the school entrance. It is unclear when this was added.
