Russell Sage Foundation, Midtown, NYC

The Russell Sage Foundation inhabits this striking building at 112 East 64th Street in Midtown, which was designed by Philip Johnson in 1958. It was the original location of the Asia Society which John D. Rockefeller 3rd founded in 1956 to promote greater understanding of Asia in the US. The foundation, which addresses social issues and in the past helped develop model housing including Forest Hills Gardens, moved in around 1982 when the Asia Society decamped to 70th and Park Avenue.
