Silver Spring Intersection, MD

As mentioned in my last post there is a huge amount of mid-century architecture in downtown Silver Spring, much of it fitting into a “low” modern definition, but nonetheless instantly recognizable. Near the intersection of Fenton Street and with both Silver Spring Avenue and Thayer Avenue is one of the highlights. One of the buildings I mentioned in the last post. Below are some of the others, most of which I don’t know a lot about. One, Weller’s Dry Cleaner is an obvious standout (last three photos), a neighborhood icon, and hopefully will be preserved for a long time to come.

  1. Tom Emerson says:

The building in the third & fourth pictures was slated for demolition – may have already happened.
