2100 L Street NW is a classic mid-century office building. Its black glass nicely reflects the nearby structures and its mid-rise scale does not overwhelm. However, this part of DC has experienced an ongoing building boom in this area and the scale of this building may work against its long-term retention. This particular building is home to the Humane Society of the United States, although it is unclear if it was purpose-built for them when it was constructed in 1963. The building is officially known as the Oliver M. Evans Memorial Building; Evans was the first director of the National Humane Society, now Humane Society of the United States, when it was formed in 1954.
