Round the Bank in Elmhurst, NYC

As mentioned in the previous post, this bank at 87-11 Queens Boulevard was designed in 1966 by the renowned firm of Skidmore Owings and Merrill as a direct counterpart to its larger circular counterpart of Macy’s. Originally known as First National City Bank, it’s now a Citibank. There are amazing original photographs of this bank and the Macy’s behind it in both Stern, Mellins and Fishman’s “New York 1960″ and Alpern and Durst’s “New York’s Architectural Holdouts.”
